177. BOX-2
After struggling (through the construction site of the Northern Bypass road in Lobnya) to reach the small Library Clearing in the forest at the northeast corner of the Kievogorskoye Field, to the east of the clearing, deep in the forest, in the zone of inaudibility and invisibility [for the participants in the Library Clearing], Andrei Monastyrski put a round red audio speaker on a tree branch. The speaker was playing the soundtrack of a travel blogger ABVGAT’s video from one of his trips to the taiga.
Then, with the help of the‘mother rope’ from Andrei Monastyrski’s briefcase, a cardboard/picture (an object made from a large folded box measuring 60x50x40 cm) was attached to a small tree in the middle of the clearing. The cardboard/picture had an A4 sheet of paper glued to it with a table of 15 QR codes, which, when scanned, led to videos of 14 performances by the Collective Actions Group (on YouTube) that took place in the Library Clearing (starting with the eponymous ‘Library’ performance in 1997) and a video of Andrei Monastyrski giving a three-minute micro-lecture on the ‘zone of indistinguishability’ in the performances by the Collective Actions Group recorded specially for the BOX-2.
Participants of the event were invited to scan the QR codes and watch at least some of the videos from the QR code table; in the meantime, Andrei Monastyrski played the video of his ‘zone of indistinguishability’ micro-lecture on his smartphone). After that, factographic materials were distributed in the form of bottle caps from bottled products (drinking water, kefir, Activia and wine) – five caps for each participant.
After a small picnic by the clearing, the participants drew lots for the cardboard/picture using the I Ching on Andrei Monastyrski’s smartphone. The object was won by Oksana Sarkisyan. Participants departed leaving the round red speaker at the scene in the forest.
